The Emirates Airbus A380 landed at the Terminal 3 of Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport

The Emirates Airbus A380, flight EK516, flew in from Dubai with over 500 passengers, marking the world's largest commercial aircraft's arrival at the Terminal 3 of Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) on Thursday. She landed around 3:00 pm in heavy downpour around the airport.

All passengers left the A380 through one of ThyssenKrupp Airport System´s (TKAS) Passenger Boarding Bridge (PBB) specially adapted for this type of aircraft.

In April 2008, TKAS was awarded the supply of 57 PBBs at Indira Gandhi International Airport, Delhi. After receiving the various components from the factory between June-September 2009 the installation activities were completed by Oct 2009. Commissioning, testing & performance of all PBBs were completed by March 2010.

Trial demos, integration & finishing touches were done during Apr - July, 2010. All the operation activities of this project were completed in a record time of 27months.   

On the 3rd of July 2010 at 10.00 am, the Hon'ble Prime Minister of India Dr. Manmohan Singh and UPA Chairperson Smt. Sonia Gandhi dedicated the Terminal 3 of Delhi´s IGIA to the nation. 

On the 6th July 2010, the 1st Aircraft of Air India landed upon the T3 Airport Terminal, which used the ThyssenKrupp Elevator PBBs for docking and was carried out successfully.

All Aircraft such as the B777, B738, A320, A321 and A380 landed at this airport and all passengers disembarking used these PBB's. This Commercial Trial Operation was held on 15th and 16th July 2010.
